History

What all started as a trip out west in 1970 to look for a location to set up a “Mr. Steak” franchise, instead returned home with a log home dealership. During the next 25 years, Duane & Peggy Hansen grew the company to over 45 employees. In 1984 they added the production of log homes to the list of things to do and soon things got out of hand. By 1987 they had to make a decision, build them or manufacture them. The decision was made to go strictly into manufacturing and Heartbilt Homes was born.

In 1994, a new state of art manufacturing plant was built. The company grew steadily over the next 11 years and in 2005 was expected to reach an all time record in sales growth, then tragedy struck. The entire plant and office burned completely to the ground in less than 45 minutes. Luckily no one was hurt. Because of commitments to our customers, we felt we had no other choice but to rebuild. We began immediately using borrowed cell phones. We had the building contractor and equipment suppliers on the site that afternoon while several areas were still smoldering. We met with the fire marshal and insurance adjuster and were given the go ahead to start rebuilding. We ordered the building and started making plans on how to replace the homes lost in the fire. We found a supplier in the industry to help us and soon we had all the houses replaced.

Over the next several months the building progressed and equipment came in. We were back operational by the summer of 2006. In the winter of 2007 we finally were able to move out of our temporary offices and move into our permanent offices. Now our focus is on the future. We started Heartbilt Homes, Heart Enterprises, Ltd. with the goal of offering log homes and log products for retail and wholesale opportunities.
